THE INNOCENT ABROAD In 1977 when I went into the pension group, RJR had only one significant fund outside the U.S. – Macdonald Tobacco’s pension plan in Toronto, Canada. This required at least an annual trip to Toronto. At that time, Toronto qualified as my only “international” travel, ever. In those days, Canada did not even require a passport to enter from the U.S.
