In my Christmas Post, I began a series about events that led me to be an investment advisor. To start the New Year, let’s reflect on the history of my generation and then try to see the future with a positive outlook. Despite wars, inflation, immigration, and an uncertain presidential election, I believe Americans will eventually come together and create a brighter future. Why? All the evidence at hand says otherwise.
Thanks, Gene, for a healthy reminder at a time when I have been somewhat less optimistic. No need to detail reasons for my worry; they are fairly obvious to the observant. You do remind us that we have come through difficult, even harsh, times before. And we have the eternal present as a constant gift.
I have wondered about how many of us of our generation are still here. It sure feels like so many of my classmates have passed on. But I also have several friends in their 90s who are, in general, doing rather well. I found the information online about the one-percenters. On the other hand, I found other sources that say that more than 40% of those born in 1939 are still alive today: https://247wallst.com/special-report/2021/08/16/how-many-people-are-still-alive-from-the-year-you-were-born-2/
Whatever, your points are well-made. And I wish for you and all yours a most HAPPY NEW YEAR!
